County receives PPEs from Equity Group Foundation

Nyamira County has received a second phase of Personal Protective Equipment’s (PPEs) donation from Equity Group Foundation worth Sh.2.5 Million.
Speaking during the delivery of the PPEs to Nyamira County Referral hospital, Equity Group Foundation Chairman Erastus Mwencha said the foundation is committed to partnering with the Ministry of Health in supporting front line health workers who have risked their lives to treat Kenyans who have contracted the dreaded Covid-19 disease.
“We have partnered with Kenya Association of Manufacturers who were mandated to locally make the PPEs at affordable prices because it was very expensive to import them as the demand globally is beyond what leading global mass production manufacturers could produce,” the chairman stated.
Nyamira Governor, John Nyangarama while receiving the PPEs thanked Equity Group Foundation for their consistence in supporting the fight against Covid-19 which has worsened in its second wave.” In Nyamira we have had a total of 226 cases that have tested positive, 153 have fully recovered and the remaining 73 are responding well to medication. Few are at our isolation section of the hospital while majority are under home based care,” Nyangarama confirmed.
Nyamira County Commissioner, Amos Mariba who was also present urged the County government to amicably solve thorny issues with doctors, some of who have decided to desert duty, so that together they can help serve the surging number of patients visiting local health facilities particularly those requiring specialized medical attention.
The items donated included gowns, surgical masks, head masks, and boots. All are aimed at protecting medics assigned to deal with Covid-19 patients from contracting this highly contagious disease.
