Nyandarua County has purchased road construction equipment’s to aid in upgrading of local road networks in the expansive county.
According to Nyandarua Governor Francis Kimemia, the County spent close to 500 million in acquisition of the machineries that will be distributed across its five Sub-counties next week to ensure that all damaged county roads are done by the end of this year.
The county boss regretted that heavy downpour being experienced across the country had rendered some roads impassable hence the need to repair and improve them to better standards.
The machines purchased include nine tippers, four excavators, four graders, three rollers, among others.
“We have purchased road construction machineries ranging from tippers, graders, excavators, rollers among others. Getting this new equipment means we have the capacity to execute various projects as planned unlike before when the county only owned one grader,” said the governor.
Kimemia added that following the heavy downpour, his administration had formed a cabinet emergency team to respond to roads and bridges breakage that may arise due to the heavy rains.
He noted that purchasing of the equipment to mend most of the feeder roads was also complimenting work being done by the National government in tarmacking of major roads in the county.
“I will make sure that roads will not be a campaign strategy for anyone seeking elective posts come 2022,” he added.
On his part Roads and Public Works Executive Ndung’uWangenye observed that with the machines in place it will now be possible to do the roads efficiently and cost effectively.
He said that a huge chunk of money dedicated to roads will now be released to undertake other developmental projects in the county.
