The County Government of Nyeri has embarked on an intensive civic education and capacity building for its officers.
The training which is being supported by Kenya Devolution Support Program (KDSP) will ensure over 400 officers are trained on matters of devolution. The three day training is being staged in all eight sub counties in the county.
According to a dispatch from the Governors Press Service on Wednesday, Ward and Sub County Officers are part of the Trainers of Trainers who will be trained under the KDSP Programme.
Nyeri County was ranked number two nationally by World Bank in project implementation leading to a Sh. 229 million support initiative from the global lender.
The County Secretary, Ben Gachichio said the trainings will equip the workers with the requisite skills in order to enable them execute their mandates more efficiently.
“This KDSP programme ensures that workers have the capacity to serve citizens more efficiently and ensures that resources are used in a prudent manner,” said Gachichio.
The key focus of the trainings, includes Public Finance Management, Planning, Monitoring and evaluation, Human Resources and Performance Management.
Another areas covered are on devolution, intergovernmental relations, civic engagement and public participation.
