Vihiga County has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Civil Society Organization Network to strengthen governance.
The County Secretary (CS) and head of public service Ezekiel Ayiego appended the signature on behalf of the county administration during the event witnessed by the governor Dr. Wilber Ottichilo at the county headquarters.
Dr. Ottichilo said the MOU paves way for a collaborative relationship for the realization socio-economic development of the people.
He stated that devolution is anchored on public participation and added that the deal hammered with civil society will enable the society to play an active role in civic engagement activities in the county.
The county head added that they will strive to ensure good governance to foster cohesion and harmony among the populace.
The CSO Network is a registered Trust having been in existence since 2003, working within Western Kenya, with established offices in Kisumu and Migori Counties.
It works closely with other organizations in the implementation of activities including supporting women groups, promoting good governance as well as peace building and conflict management.
