County holds its first meeting on national government development programmes and projects

Heads of national departments and parastatals in Mombasa County on Tuesday held the first development implementation co-ordination committee meeting to familiarize with the recent Executive Order No.1 of 2019.

During the meeting at Uhuru na Kazi building, Mombasa County Commissioner (CC), Evans  Achoki said it was incumbent for departmental heads to acquaint and actualize the Order issued by President Uhuru Kenyatta last month.

Achoki said for the government to achieve its development agenda including the Big Four Plan, all public servants must show commitment and perform their duties effectively.

The County  Chief said the big four plan of food security, affordable housing, universal healthcare and manufacturing is aimed at enhancing the living standards of Kenyans as well as prospering the nation.

“The government is committed towards improving the living standards of Kenyans through successful implementation of vital programmes and projects,” said the Administrator.

He said all national departmental and parastatal heads must attend future meetings in person and give reports on programmes and projects under their supervision.

Achoki  said the government has invested billions of shillings in constructing roads and upgrading existing ones all aimed at facilitating transportation of goods and people.

He  said that huge road projects completed in Mombasa included the expansion of the Airport-Port Reitz, and Mombasa-Miritini roads into dual carriageways.

The CC said other road projects taking shape included the dual carriageway of the Mombasa – Mariakani highway; the Dongo Kundu bypass and the Mombasa Northern bypass which were all set to ease traffic jams in the coastal city.
