Kitui  County Government has donated Sh. 2 million for the restoration learning in Kyuso Boys.

The  Deputy  Governor, Wathe  Nzau made the announcement during a visit to the institution on Tuesday.

Learning came to a halt on the night of May 13, 2018 after a fire razed a dormitory, leaving at least 150 students in the cold.

Addressing the Board of Management, Dr. Nzau said that the County Government will support the school which is in Mwingi North Constituency to resume normalcy.

“We are cognizant of the fact that secondary education is a national government function, we will, however, assist the school because it is our own,” he said.

He said the County government is committed to act with haste during disasters to assist wananchi in solving the day to day emergencies without much strain.

“The inferno broke up at the school last Sunday, some minutes after 7p.m”, explained the Principal, Benjamin Nzyoka.

Nzyoka said the cause of the fire was attributed to electricity fault even as investigations continue.

The school has a population of 756 students and only 25 were absent during the fateful incident.

None of the personal items, bedding basics and books in the dormitory were salvaged.
