County Embarks on Mass Screening of Covid-19

Kakamega County government has screened 22, 328 persons for Covid-19 in a bid to curb the spread of coronavirus.
Deputy Governor Prof. Philip Kutima said they had trained 21 laboratory technologists on samples collection and dispatched them to level four hospitals.
Kutima stated that sensitization of the public on the pandemic was ongoing at the sub county level through religious leaders, prison staff, county administrators, health care workers and traders and so far, around 33, 00 people have been reached.
He called on the boda boda operators to obey the directive requiring them to carry only one passenger at a time and urged the public to observe the set precautionary measures to protect themselves.
He observed that most individuals still perceived the disease as a myth saying that was a misconception.
The county had earlier launched a fumigation exercise for its major towns and markets and so far parts of Kakamega town, Lubao, Kakunga, Kambi ya Mwanza and Malava have been covered.
