County develops system to monitor project status

Kakamega County has developed a system that will be tracking and providing real-time information on status of development projects.

The system will provide data on the planned, the ongoing, completed as well as stalled projects in the county.

The Chief Officer for Service Delivery and Advisory Unit Dr. Phitalis Masakhwe, who opened a five-day capacity building workshop for planning officers at a Kakamega hotel Thursday, said the dashboard platform will provide real-time information on the programmes.

Masakhwe explained that his unit has embraced a participatory approach with the aim of developing capacity to the relevant officers across all the ministries.

His counterpart for finance and economic planning James Ochami said the approach will be a game changer in service delivery and called for integrity from the officers when compiling and submitting the required information on projects.

“As planners, you are the primary custodians of information who should provide first-hand data to be used in decision making,” he observed.

Ochami stated that the new platform will integrate the other existing systems to enhance service delivery.

The County is being assisted in the implementing of the system by the lCT Business Solutions Company and Software Development and Business Solutions Limited.
