County Commissioner irked by absent heads of departments

Heads of departments who skip the County Development Implementation and Coordination Committee (CDICC) meetings are undermining the Presidency, Siaya County Commissioner (CC), Michael  Ole  Tialal has said.

He  said it was imperative that heads of departments and national government agencies co-opted into the CDICC take their duty seriously and ensure that the committee, established through President Uhuru Kenyatta’s executive order number one of 2019 carries out its mandate effectively.

Speaking during the committee meeting held at his Boardroom on Monday, Tialal especially took issue with the County Director of Education who has never attended any of the meetings and instead has been sending different officers to represent him.

“The instructions are that heads of departments must attend in person without delegation,” he said warning that in future, officers who fail to take up their responsibilities in the committee will have their names forwarded to the Office of the President for disciplinary action.

During the meeting, members expressed satisfaction over the use of the medical equipment supplied by the national government to Bondo and Siaya referral hospitals.

They however noted that lack of consumables and adequate trained staff was hampering the optimum use of the equipment.

The members further called for concerted efforts between the departments of agriculture and cooperatives to support farmers run Nyangera irrigation project in Bondo Sub County where the national government pumped over sh24 million for construction of the irrigation infrastructure.
