County Commissioner Directs Chiefs to Work Diligently

Vihiga County Commissioner Susan Waweru has instructed the chiefs and assistant chiefs to execute their duties diligently and effectively.

Waweru was concerned that some of the administrators were not ensuring that government regulations are enforced in their areas of jurisdiction.

The CC castigated some chiefs for concealing bad elements in the society as well as failing to eliminate illicit brews business in their areas.

She said this at Mugomati area in Vihiga sub county on Wednesday while introducing Edward Epuret as the Assistant County Commissioner (ACC) for the newly created Mungoma division.

The administrator also regretted the rampant incidents of incest which she said often resulted in early pregnancies and appealed to mothers to be guiding the girls on issues of sexuality.

She challenged residents to adhere to cultural moral code of conduct and cautioned women against delegating the duty of attending to their husbands to their teenage girls.

During the event, she gave to the attendees a toll-free number 988 dubbed mulika uhalifu which they can call or send text messages on crime.

The County Police Commander (CPC) Benjamin Ong’ombe urged residents to participate in promotion of security by passing information on criminal suspects and activities to the police.

He pointed out the need for concerted efforts for the realization of law and order in the area.
