There is a need for unity and coordination between National and County Government while dealing with cross border challenges in Migori County.
Visiting Parliamentary Committee on Regional Integration dwelt on the need for proper coordination to address challenges of a porous border, inadequate water supply and general security at the border.
Led by vice-chair Lamu County Women Rep Ruweida Mohamed Obbo said the committee is determined to bring together the two levels of governments with intention of improving relationship with neighbouring countries while ensuring residents enjoy better services in a conducive environment.
Ruweida said their meeting with the government agencies representatives and the general public at the Isibania Border Post had given them insight on how they will address the challenges.
The Woman Rep said the committee is satisfied with the way Covid-19 protocols are being observed at the border. She said the fight against the pandemic will succeed if the two levels of government work closely.
Ruweidi reiterated that harmony among the communities at the border point and other border markets is vital to achieve challenges of insecurity and trade.
The MPs were on a fact-finding mission on how Isibania Border Post is handling Covid-19 protocols.
