Devolution and ASAL Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa has asked contractors working on government projects to work within deadlines and avoid shoddy work.
Speaking during the inspection of Kitale airstrip, Wamalwa asked the contractor to hasten the construction to allow for resumption of flights.
“This airstrip is of much importance to our county and this region, so we are asking the contractors to hasten their works,” he said.
The Kitale airstrip is set to be completed on December 10, 2021.
At the same time, the CS asked the contractor constructing the Kitale-Suam road to fast track the project due to the expected heavy rains.
Wamalwa called on government officials and engineers supervising the project to ensure the road is delivered on time.
Trans Nzoia County Commissioner Samson Ojwang said that the project has been delayed mainly due to heavy rains experienced last year and that new timelines had been given to the contractors to complete the job and ensure it is done well.
The CS also toured the Kiptogot-Kolongolo water project.
