Homa Bay County governor Cyprian Awiti has reiterated that they have intensified contact tracing for all people who came into contact with 11 people, who travelled in the county recently with empty coffin from Nairobi, pretending to be attending a funeral in the region.
This has come about after the driver who carried the passengers from Nairobi to Homa Bay last Wednesday tested positive for coronavirus after they were arrested by the county security team and taken to quarantine center at Homa Bay KMTC.
Awiti said that they are working closely with the county security agencies to ensure that all the people who interacted with the passengers who faked documents to Homa Bay are taken for quarantine at the local KMTC and their samples taken for test to determine whether they are coronavirus positive or not.
The governor further added that another group of people who came into the county from Nairobi has also been taken to Homa bay KMTC for quarantining.
At the same time, he appealed to people who might have come into the county from Nairobi to report to their respective area chiefs for easy tracing, as a way of curbing the spread of Covid-19 in the region.
Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle who ferried the nine passengers into the county has already been put under isolation at the County Isolation center at Malela dispensary in Ndhiwa Sub County.
