Company suspends physical meter reading

Nyeri Water and Sanitation Company (NYEWASCO) has scaled down its operations as the county races to curb the spread of Covid-19 disease.
Effective from today, the company has suspended physical meter reading indefinitely in a move to protect its staff and clients from contacting the highly infectious disease.
In a message circulated to its clients, the company says its action is in line with the government’s directive on precautionary measures to be observed as the country combats the respiratory disease.
“In a bid to curb the spread of Covid-19, the company has suspended actual meter reading until further notice,” reads the message.
The company says April water bills will be estimated against March consumption but will be later regularised when actual meter reading resumes.
The firm which has been voted as the best water service provider for eight consecutive years however wants its clients to continue paying their bills during and post Covid-19 to avoid accumulation of arrears.
“Meeting your bills obligations will enable the company to maintain steady supply of clean and safe water to you,” says the SMS message.
The company has been in the forefront in complimenting government’s efforts to curb the spread of coronavirus by undertaking to supply water to low income settlements areas within the county.
Last month, the company suspended payment of water bills by Witemere slums dwellers for a period of one month to boost the fight against covid-19.
