Coast RC assures candidates of maximum security during exams

Coast Regional Commissioner John Elungata has assured candidates sitting for their KCPE exam and exam managers of adequate security within the examination centers during the three-day examination which kicked off today.

Elungata said adequate security personnel have been deployed to man all exam centers and adequate vehicles to transport exam materials have been provided.

Speaking while witnessing the opening of the exam containers at Coast regional headquarters office- Uhuru na Kazi building, Elungata said the government has put in place watertight measures to curb exam malpractices.

The regional administrator said the government has sent extra security personnel to the troubled Lamu County and assured the candidates of their safety as they sit for their exams.

He said exam managers would do a roll call to ascertain if all candidates have sat for their exams.

Coast region has 101, 857 candidates sitting for the exams of which 41, 857 are boys and 42,284 girls in both public and private schools.

According to the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC), 1, 2265,507 candidates countrywide began their KCPE exam today.
