Clubs invited to scout for players at Governor’s Cup tourney

Kakamega County Executive Committee Member in Charge of Sports Mophat Mandela has invited Kenyan Football Clubs to scout for players from the ongoing Kakamega County Governor’s Cup tournament.

Mandela affirmed on Sunday at Marenyo Shianda Ward, Butere Sub-County, that talented youths are showcasing massive skills that require exposure, as envisaged by the Social Development Agenda of Governor Fernandes Barasa’s Manifesto.

“A return to the past glory where Kakamega County produced great talents such as Tony Lidonde, Joe Kadenge, Dan Musuku, and Allan Wanga, among others,” he said.

He pointed out that the successful sports extravaganza in all the wards will also give opportunities to local youth to earn a living through sports and talents.

At the same time, he called on the talented performing artists to register for the upcoming county music festivals at their respective ward offices for a chance to perform at the inaugural Kakamega County Governor’s Gala slated for November this year.

The County Secretary and Head of Public Service, Lawrence Omuhaka, also graced the Marama North Ward finals at Inaya Primary School, where he said Governor Barasa’s administration is in the process of establishing football academies that will be critical in identifying, nurturing, and exposing grassroots talents.
