Clergy in Nyamira hold county inter-denominational prayers

The Clergy in Nyamira County have held interdenominational county prayers dubbed Clergy on their knees for unity and peaceful coexistence of the county leadership and its residents following last year’s political leadership squabbles.

Governor Amos Nyaribo who was the chief guest thanked Nyamira County clergy for the programme which he said was noble and timely.

Their efforts to mobilize county residents, church members and their leaders and the political leaders so that they all can pose a little and start reasoning together as brothers and sisters was humbling.

“This initiative by the clergy is commendable and their style of conducting the prayers has been spirit filled and very organized. Thank you very much to the entire clergy of Nyamira for this program that has exceeded everyone’s expectations. We shall soon organize a music concert for choirs of all religious denominations so we gather to listen and enjoy the sweet therapeutic hymns and be blessed with their spiritual messages. I am very optimistic that the Almighty God has heard us and I believe he will answer us,” added Nyaribo.

Pastor Joshua Oindi, the chairman of the Clergy on their knees initiative said the programme was very successful because there were numerous leaders, officers and members of the public who showed up to be prayed for.

“We are not worried about some of the key leaders like the Deputy Governor, the national assembly legislators who failed to turn up for the prayers despite receiving our invitation, we also prayed for them wherever they are because I believe their engagements and busy schedules are for the best interest of our county.” Pr. Oindi clarified.

Bishop Charles Agwata, chairman of Nyamira County clergy unit appreciated the Governor’s response to the clergy’s prayer programme and his entire cabinet and other officers including legislators from the county assembly who managed to participate in the prayer programme.

“Our leaders and people in the entire county need to be taught the importance and power of communal prayer. We must put all our differences and misunderstandings aside, be they political, economic, social and spiritual and collectively invoke the mighty name of God to send us his holy spirit from above to guide our paths, heal and bless our land.

The prayer programme brought together the entire leadership from both the county and national government, clergy from all religious denominations in Nyamira, church members and residents to pray for the county leadership to work in unity and resolve whatever disputes harmoniously.
