Civil servants have been urged to attend the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) awareness forums when called upon in order to be better informed on the benefits they are entitled.
According to Mr. William Ochiel from the State Department of Public Service, the forums provide a platform for public servants to get more information on the NHIF Schemes provided by the government in order for them to make informed decisions.
“It is your right to know and when you know, you make a better-informed decision. Kindly ensure that you train yourself to know what is required always to make you a better person in the Public Service,” said Ochiel.
He was speaking at a hotel in Kisii town during a sensitization forum for civil servants and employees of the National Youth Service on Work Injury Benefits, Group Life, Last Expense, Critical Illness, and Group Personal Accident Insurance Covers.
In addition, Mr. Ochiel urged the participants to update their beneficiaries’ records with the relevant Human Resources offices and live with their families in harmony in order to ease the processes of claiming benefits whenever necessary.
Similarly, Kitutu Central Sub-County Deputy County Commissioner, Elizabeth Atemi urged the participants to be good ambassadors and attend sensitization forums when called upon in order to inform policies.
“Come to these forums and inform us of the policy. By the way, your coming here is not just for yourself, but it also helps to improve these services. For example, some of us have been part of the transformation that occurred with the NHIF super cover that was introduced in 2012,” noted Atemi.
