Over 40 Religious denominations in Migori County Wednesday gathered at Migori stadium for interdenominational special prayers to cast away ‘bad omen’ that has lately haunted the county.
Leaders from different churches were given different prayer items in of front hundreds of faithful including the entire county government staff and political leaders.
The clergy led by Pentecostal Fellowship Assembly Bishop John Okinda, said prayers were necessary to cleanse the county from what he said was an evil spirit hovering around.
Bishop Okinda pleaded with investors and those who purpose to visit Migori to do so and not to allow the recent county misfortunes frustrate their ambitions.
The first misfortune was when the first Women Representative Denita Ghati was involved in an accident which left her on wheel chair. This was followed by the death of the second senator Ben Oluoch Okello.
In addition, Migori Governor Okoth Obado who was in attendance got implicated in various court cases while Migori Woman Representative Pamela Odhiambo recently got involved in an accident and is still in hospital.
All these happenings have not gone well with Migori residents and Church leadership who believes special prayers ought to be conducted ‘to cast away the dark clouds which hovered over Migori County’.
Governor Obado led the Migori county staff in attending the prayers and a special prayer was said for him over his pending court cases.
During the event, no political leader was allowed to make remarks after the prayers.
Among churches present include, Seventh Day Adventist, Muslim, PEFA, Redeemed Gospel, Catholic and Legion Maria.
