Child welfare society to support 6000 families affected by floods

Child Welfare Society Kenya is targeting to supply relief food and non-food items to about 6000 families in Tana River County, the organization’s coordinator Ms Jane Mwangi has said.

Speaking at Hamesa Manyatta in Hola Friday when she distributed relief food stuff that included 960 bags of rice, 600 cartons of cooking fat, 400 bags of green grams, 400 bags of beans, 250 bags of maize, and 200 blankets to 380 families, said the organization is supporting victims such as children, elderly persons and persons with disabilities that have been affected by the floods.

She said the items should only benefit the targeted persons who are not able to support themselves at this challenging time.

Speaking at the same function deputy county commissioner, Tana River Andrew Mutua, thanked the organization for the intervention and urged other organizations to come in and support the flood victims in the area.
