Residents of Chemundu/Kapng’etuny Ward and the entire Nandi County at large have been thrown into a sudden mourning mood following the demise of their Member of County Assembly and also Majority Whip Julius Kipruto Keter.
In a statement released by County Assembly Speaker Philemon Melly, Keter has been unwell for the last three weeks but finally succumbed at Fountain Hospital Eldoret at 8.30am Saturday.
“Keter has been unwell for the last three weeks. He sadly lost the battle at Fountain Hospital Eldoret,” the statement said.
Melly described Keter as a legend, a true servant of the people who dedicated his life to the betterment of his people.
“His tireless work, unwavering commitment, and genuine love for the community will be cherished,” he said.
Nandi Governor Stephen Sang condoled with the family saying, “Keter was not just a colleague but a friend and a true servant of the people. His unwavering commitment to uplifting the lives of his constituents, his humility, and his calm, thoughtful leadership will be missed”.
Governor Sang said Keter stood firm in advocating for development and was a strong voice in the Nandi County Assembly.
Chemundu/Kapng’etuny Ward residents were devastated when news of the deise of their MCA was broken to them, with many confessing that his hard work and generosity would be greatly missed.
Section of youths has said Keter was quick to respond to issues concerning them and he would be remembered for initiating programmes that were geared towards transforming their lives.
Keter was elected on a UDA ticket for the first time as the Member of Nandi County Assembly during the 2022 general elections.
