Check on contractor’s financial capability before engaging them in public projects

The  Kobura ward MCA, John  Atieno has criticized Kisumu County government for engaging contractors who have no financial capability to undertake public projects.

Speaking in Rabuor, Nyando Sub County on Monday during public participation forum, Atieno singled out Obusa and Lela hospitals in the area which were not finished as anticipated by the locals hence crippling effective health services.

The MCA  said the county should do a thorough financial background check on the companies and contractors to ensure they finish their work in time.

He  said the Sh.5 million project had stalled and called on the county government to spearhead it to benefit the locals.

“We will not allow cowboy contractors to delay our projects. Let them be verified before they are given public projects involving huge cash,” he said.

Atieno  said new projects which will be initiated in the Fiscal Year 2019/2020 in Kobura ward will be based on needs of the residents.
