Youths in Samburu County have been assured of getting jobs as enumerators and content supervisors in the upcoming national census.
The assurance was given by Samburu Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) Jackson Oloo after youths complained of unfair competition from civil servants, teachers and other salaried employees who were applying for jobs as enumerators and content supervisors.
The complaints were made in different social media platforms calling for the relevant authorities to intervene and give the youth first priority.
Oloo said that the County and sub-county census Committees have made a commitment to ensure that jobless youth were given first priority to work in various positions in the August census.
“The County statistics office is currently receiving applications for the over 1, 000 slots for Samburu County and regardless of who applies, some of this jobs are meant for jobless youth of this county,” he said.
