About eight classrooms will be constructed in eight Secondary Schools in Tana River Sub County under Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) infrastructure programme in order to accommodate students who will be joining Junior Secondary in 2023.
Speaking during the Tana River Sub County CBC infrastructure meeting in his Hola office, the area Sub County Deputy County Commissioner, Mr Evans Wendott, said the classrooms will be completed by April/2022.
Wendott identified the Secondary Schools that will benefit with one classroom each in the first phase as Chanana Secondary School, Daku, Hola Boys, Mau Mau Memorial Girls, Wenje Dura, Wachakone among others.
The DCC appealed to the local contractors to apply for the tenders to build the classrooms instead of allowing contractors from outside the County to benefit from the programme.
He also said, one classroom will cost about Sh788, 000 from the National Government and will be payable immediately the works are completed.
