CAS Nadia urges leaders to initiate Humanitarian policies

There is need for leaders to put in place humanitarian policies that favour young people’s success, as the country is founded on the brilliance and dedication of the youth.

Ministry of ICT, Innovation and Youth Affairs, Chief Administrative Secretary, Nadia Abdalla said as a leader she supports the call by Red Cross pushing for positive humanitarian policies.

Your heart of service is an aspect of humanity that each one of us should emulate. If each one of us is as dedicated as each one of you, our future is bound to head towards a path where inequalities in social and economic development are reduced,” she said.

Congratulating the Red Cross members during the Kenya Red Cross Volunteer Awards 2021, themed, Volunteer Now for Our Common Future, held at a Nairobi hotel, the CAS recognised all of them as winners, noting that no measure of trophy or certificate would equate to what each one of them represents.

During the ceremony, the CAS was given an award for being an outstanding youth doing great work in the country.

She at the same time encouraged other organisations and all Kenyans to emulate what Kenya Red Cross does to empower the youth, to save humanity and to reduce the suffering of citizens facing challenges.

“As the saying goes, it takes a village to raise a child, it takes a generation of selfless citizens to better a country. What Kenya Red Cross does daily, living the mantra, is the hope that all of us cling on, to ensure an assured future for the generations to come,” she stated.

Nadia said she was impressed when she visited the Innovation Lab in Lamu, designed by Red Cross to empower youth while creating livelihood opportunities for them, and commended them for their commitment to respond to and mitigate disasters.

“I am passionate about the youth agenda, seeing young people flourish in life is one of my self-actualisation goals. Today it humbles me to see and witness selflessness and bravery from each one of you. You are all challenging me to do more for the youth of Kenya,” she stated.
