Eight private candidates were barred from sitting for the ongoing KCSE exams at shurie secondary school in Ijara sub county, Garissa County for allegedly breaching exam regulations.
According to the sub county director of education Ibrahim Odowa the affected candidates all of who were girls, appeared at the exams room almost half an hour after the exercise had commenced.
He said by failing to observe punctuality, the candidates showed lack of seriousness and in the process broke the Kenya National Examination Council rules.
Elders appealed to the centre manager and invigilators to allow them sit for the exam despite being late and recover the lost minutes all in vain.
Odowa cautioned private candidates in the area to observe punctuality to avoid similar incidents during the remaining days of the national exam.
