Businesses operate normally in Nanyuki amid calls for countrywide protests

Businesses in Nanyuki town went on normally despite a countrywide call for protests by the Azimio la Umoja leaders.

A spot check by KNA in Nanyuki town revealed calm and people going about their businesses as usual.

However, Matatus plying to Nairobi from Nanyuki experienced minimal activities with low number of passengers due to fear of chaos from the anticipated Azimio-led protests

Speaking on Monday in Nanyuki town, David Ngatia, Nanyuki stage attendant said that passengers were not travelling to Nairobi as usual where he cited fear due to the anticipated Azimio la Umoja protests.

“We ferry passengers from Laikipia to Nairobi but today business is poor. The fear of the anticipated demonstrations in Nairobi have affected us. Our passengers are few due to fear,” decried Ngatia.

He said Matatu business was their only source of income which they use to feed and educate their children hence calling on the government to intervene and stop the demonstrations for businesses to continue normally.

“If these vehicles cannot get to Nairobi, our business will have been affected and those who depend on us will suffer. I urge the government to intervene,” he said.
