Busia County has set aside sh 3.4 Million for the development of soccer and nurture talents among the youth.
Presenting budget estimate for the FY 2021/2022 and Midterm Expenditure Framework at Busia Agriculture Training Centre on Friday, Acting Director Social Services Peter Ogulla said the targeted clubs will receive assistance in terms of uniforms, registration, transport and allowances to promote the sport.
He however added that the department was allocated sh 49.4 Million towards development projects in the financial year. Of this allocation, sh 6million will go towards the refurbishment of Busia County Stadium and purchase of Stadium equipment.
An allocation of sh 15.5 Million will go towards social protection. This includes sh 7 Million for NHIF for the elderly, sh 5 Million for the empowerment of women and people with disabilities, and sh 3.5Million for the purchase of assistive for PWDs.
The department has been allocated sh 2Million for equipping Nambale Empowerment centre.
On child Care Protection sh 4.5million for the development of the Child Protection Policy and sh 5 Million for completion of Mauko Child Protection Centre.
The Culture Infrastructure Development received an allocation of sh 7million towards completion of Kakapel and Mauko Cultural Centres, sh 2million will be used to promote tourism across the county and sh 4million for completion and equipping of Butula ADA County Centre.
