Busia residents asked to be vigilant against terrorism

Busia County Commissioner, Jacob Narengo has appealed to residents in the county to be vigilant following recent threats by a terror gang to attack a rural based town in the country.

He made the appeal on Sunday at Busia Catholic Church cautioning residents that the terrorists are planning to hit a rural town where it will take time for Special Forces to reach.

“The terrorists attacked DusitD2 Hotel in Nairobi on January 15, 2019, and on Saturday a suspected improvised explosive device (IED) exploded at Nairobi Central Business District”, he recounted to the congregation.

Narengo urged locals to embrace Community Policing (Nyumba Kumi) and share any information with security agencies to help foil any attacks, warning that the terror groups are now using local youths to execute their heinous acts.

“Let all of us be on the lookout and report any suspicious characters that may use the porous Kenya-Uganda border to gain entry into the country,”he said.
