Busia County Government through Bukhayo East Ward Development Fund has purchased medical equipment and farm inputs at a total cost of Sh3 million with a view to improve both the health and living standards of the local residents.
The equipment, including digital blood pressure machine, glucometers, and thermo guns were distributed to Madende health centre, Khayo, Mudembi and Buyofu dispensaries within the ward while the farm inputs including varieties of seeds and knapsack sprayers will benefit 250 farmers.
Speaking during the handing over of the equipment at the Ward offices in Nambale Sub County, Busia Deputy Governor, Moses Mulomi, said that the equipment will help boost health service delivery in the area.
“We are committed to ensuring that we address the challenges affecting the health sector across the county by providing a conducive environment for healthcare workers for effective service delivery,” he said, adding that the farm inputs will help in enhancing food security.
Mulomi also unveiled one tractor and a utility vehicle to address the needs of local residents in terms of food production and transport respectively.
