The County Government of Busia has selected a team of football, volleyball and netball players in preparation for the under 23 Kenya Youth Inter-County Sports Association (KYISA) scheduled for April 23 this year in Tharaka Nithi County.
Addressing the selected team members, the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Sports, Culture and Social Services Paul Ekwenye encouraged them to do their best to keep the County’s flag high.
He stated that Busia is the defending champion in the KYISA games that were played in Busia town before the outbreak of coronavirus.
“I encourage you to represent us well because organizations and clubs will be out there scouting for players,” he said, adding that three girls from Busia volleyball team were picked by KCB, Prisons and Kenya Pipeline clubs where they are currently employed.
He disclosed that friendly football and volleyball matches have been organized and scheduled for April 10 in Mumias, Kakamega County.
Ekwenye assured the teams of the governor’s full support adding that he will officially flag off the teams before they head to Tharaka Nithi for the competation.
He encouraged the coaches and the selected players to engage in continuous training to sharpen their skills in the various disciplines.
