Busia County produces more football coaches

Busia County has produced 56 more football coaches through the support of the Kenya Academy of Sports organized by the Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Sports Ababu Namwamba.

This comes after the completion of the 10-day training exercise organized for the football coaches which kicked off last week.

Among those who graduated during the closing ceremony were eight female coaches who are expected to challenge men in the male dominated sports.

It is the highest number of upcoming coaches to be trained since 2013 according to the FKF Busia Branch Chairman, Hillary Musundi.

Musundi said the branch secretary Reuben Olita is among the new coaches.

Speaking during the closing ceremony, Busia County Executive Committee Member (CECM)) for Sports Paul Ekwenye called on referees and coaches to recruit more ladies in the field.

Ekwenye added that the County will have a series of tournaments this year like the Governor’s Cup between November and December and the Deputy Governor’s volleyball tournament in October.

FKF Busia Branch Chairman Hillary Musundi said that no club will be allowed to feature in any local leagues beginning next season without a class D license coaching Diploma certificate certified by the CAF/ FIFA.

He urged the CECM to fast track the passage of the sports bill which stalled during the last administration adding that clubs participating in various cadres of the league were facing financial constraints.
