A 19-year-old boy was arraigned before a Kabarnet court for allegedly defiling a 15-year-old minor.
Kevin Yatich alias Douglas appeared before Principal Magistrate Caroline Ateya charged with defilement contrary to section 8 (1) as read with section 8 (3) of the Sexual Offences Act No. 3 of 2006.
He was also charged with engaging in an indecent act with a child contrary to section 11(1) of the sexual offences Act No.3 of 2006.
The accused is said to have committed the unlawful act at an unknown time on December 3, 2022 at the Ossen location in Baringo North Sub County within Baringo County.
Yatich who was present in court pleaded not guilty to the two counts when they were read to him.
“Your honour, I did not commit the offence which I am accused of,” he stated.
Ateya ordered him to be released on Sh 100,000 bond pending hearing and determination of the case.
The case will come up for mention on October 6 and hearing has been fixed for November 6 this year where three witnesses are set to testify.
Meanwhile, at the same court, Isaac Kipyego alias Kushoto was charged with causing grievous harm to Isaac Kandagor.
Kipyego who appeared before Ateya was accused that on August 25, 2023, at Ossen area in Baringo North Sub County, he unlawfully assaulted the victim at an unknown time hit the complainant with a big stick resulting in a serious bone fracture on his left hand and left leg.
He also denied committing the offence claiming that he has been wrongly accused.
The magistrate granted him a personal bond of Sh 80,000 with one surety of a similar amount or deposit cash bail of Sh 20,000 in default to remain in custody.
The case will come up for mention on October 6 while the hearing will commence on 11th November with three witnesses lined up.
