Bondo Police Open Inquest into Cousin’s Killing

Police in Bondo sub-county have launched investigations into the death of a 36 year old man who was allegedly murdered at Sianga village in Nyag’oma sub-location last evening.

The man who has been identified as Peter Opiyo Jalang’o died after he was allegedly beaten by his cousins and paternal uncle after he attacked them over suspected land tussle.

According to the Assistant Chief of Uyawi sub-location where he was pronounced dead Mr. Joshua Ougo, the deceased is said to have attacked the cousins at the home of his uncle John Nyakora while armed with crude weapons.

He told KNA that the deceased was lynched after villagers responding to distress calls  beat him up leaving him unconscious moments after he reportedly stormed his uncle’s homestead in a fist of fury while armed.

They are said to have then carried him to the nearby Uyawi sub-county hospital where he was pronounced death on arrival.

Mr. Ougo stated that even though the reason why the deceased had gone to attack the cousins at their home is not yet clear, Opiyo is said to have been making such attacks every now and again over some parcels of land.

While confirming the incident, the Assistant Chief stated that body was removed to Bondo sub-county hospital mortuary to await postmortem as investigations begin into the matter.
