A 35-year-old man is being held at Bondo police station over allegations of attacking an assistant chief and a village elder at Milando village in Bondo sub-county and setting their motorbike ablaze.
Willis Ochieng Ooko reportedly attacked the assistant chief of Usire sub-location Mr. Austine Omondi Bunde who was on patrol during the curfew hours together with the village elder yesterday night.
According to the Assistant chief of Maranda sub-location Mr. Kennedy Amolo, the duo met the suspect who was drunk, while loitering during the wee hours of the night and asked him to go home.
Amolo told KNA that the man, who is popularly known as Jateja, headed home only to come back later and start fighting the two administrators
Chief Amolo said that the assailant eventually set the motorbike ablaze forcing the administrator and the village elder to raise an alarm prompting Jateja to run away.
The administrator, who confirmed the incident said he managed to catch up with Ochieng who was still in that area.
He stated that the burnt motorbike was removed and taken to Bondo police station where the man is being held to await subsequent arraignment in court next week.
