Bomet prisons can now allow visitors from outside following full vaccination of all their inmates against Covid-19.
Regional Commander of Prisons Aggrey Onyango, while speaking at the institution, said the Government has ensured that all inmates throughout the country were fully vaccinated, not only to allow regular visitations by members of their families, but also ensure that the inmates were fully immunized against Covid-19.
Onyango said the Government has however rolled out health protocols to be observed whenever such interactions were to be made, so as to reduce risk of introduction of the deadly virus into the prison.
He said though there have been no Covid-19 related deaths in Bomet prison, there have been very few cases in other prisons saying this was as a result of strict adherence of the protocols laid out by the Ministry of Health.
He reiterated the importance of being vaccinated while reminding the inmates of need for observation of Covid-19 containment measures including wearing of face masks, washing hands or use of sanitizers and strict adherence of social distancing rule.
