The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) officials in Bomet East Constituency have confirmed that they have received 51 per cent of the ballot boxes following yesterday’s voting.
Speaking to Kenya News Agency constituency Returning Officer Mr Mark Lempaka said they have received forms 34A from 71 polling centres and they are expecting to finalize the exercise by tomorrow Thursday.
Mr Lempaka added the exercise of receiving and uploading the forms follows a tedious process as stipulated by IEBC and witnessed by the party’s agents present.
“We have received 71 forms 34A out of 138 which is the total number of polling stations in this constituency, results are still trickling in and at the moment we can’t say who is leading. We will declare both results at the different electoral levels at the constituency level once we have tallied the entire polling outcomes,” he said.
A spot check by KNA in different constituency tallying centres in the county has established that tallying of votes is underway.
In Sotik, tallying of results is at 33 per cent IEBC reports stating that they have received results of 71 polling stations out of 214 gazetted centres in the constituency.
The situation is almost the same in the remaining parts of the county, with returning officers stating that final results are likely to be declared as from tomorrow.
The security officers manning the Constituency tallying centres across the county have not experienced any breach of security as all is going well and they are allowing only election officials, the media and election stakeholders to access the venue.
Security has been beefed up in constituency and county tallying centres, Bomet County recently received an additional number of security personnel from Rapid Development Unit (RPDU) and Anti-Stock Theft Unit officers.
