We are ready for bipartisan talks, Co-Chair

Kenya Kwanza Bipartisan Committee co-chairperson Gitonga Murugara has affirmed that the ruling coalition team was ready for talks with the Azimio team to ensure the country was peaceful.

Murugara, who is also the Tharaka MP, blamed their counterparts from the Azimio team for insincerity, saying they have always been ready for the talks but have always been frustrated by the other side.

“Up to this moment, I can say the other team is not serious with the talks. If they want to become serious, they can come back to us, and I confirm we are ready for the talks,” said Mr. Murugara.

On Tuesday, June 27, 2023, Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition party leader Raila Odinga announced that the outfit had exited bipartisan talks with Kenya Kwanza.

Speaking during a public rally at Kamkunji grounds, Odonga announced the start of civil disobedience against the government, especially after President William Ruto assented to the Finance Bill.
