Police in Thika have nabbed 10 sacks of bhang with a street market value of Sh.5million from a house in the notorious Kiandutu slums.
The owner of the narcotics managed to slip through the dragnet when he saw the police approaching his house as he was offloading the drugs from a vehicle into his house at around 7am.
The Thika Police Commander, Beatrice Kiraguri said they received a tipoff from members of the public and the area Nyumba Kumi association that someone was offloading the drugs into his house and swung into action.
Several fine papers for rolling the bhang were also found in the residence.
“We raided the house and managed to nab the drugs. However, the owner on seeing us, fled. Nevertheless, we know him and it’s just a matter of time before we catch up with him,” said the area police boss.
The security chief said that they will not allow bhang trade in the area and warned those involved that their time was up.
