Security agencies in Meru County have nabbed a consignment of bhang worth millions of shillings in a Friday morning operation that saw one suspect arrested.
The operation led by County Commissioner, Wilfred Nyagwanga and County Police Commander, David Kirui raided the home at Kirwiro Village in Chugu Location of Imenti North Sub County and discovered the consignment hidden in one house within the homestead.
Speaking at the scene of the crime, Nyagwanga lauded members of the community for alerting the police, saying the suspect is among the network that has been trafficking the illicit drug in the region.
The bhang was estimated to be worth sh. 10million in street value.
He said the crackdown will continue until drug menace is completely eliminated from the county.
Nyagwanga attributed the high cases of murder and school unrest to the abuse of hard drugs being supplied by a strong network.
The male suspect was booked at the Meru Police Station and shall be arraigned in court next week.
This comes barely a month after another suspect was arrested with a huge consignment of bhang at Kooje Estate within Meru Town.
