Benjamin Langat elected as Ainamoi MP

Jubilation rent the air, Wednesday night, at the Ainamoi Constituency Tally Centre in Kericho town, when the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) announced Amb Benjamin Langat, as the Ainamoi Constituency Member of Parliament elect.

The Ainamoi Constituency IEBC Returning Officer, Mbugua Kuria, declared UDA candidate, Amb Langat duly elected, having garnered the top position with 59,254 votes beating his competitor Kipkemoi Ngeno, who got 3,490 votes who vied on an Independent ticket.

“Results are declared as per the law which says that once counting and tallying starts, it should not stop and that is what we have done. MP elect has been declared and awarded a certificate awaiting swearing in.” remarked the Returning Officer.

Amb Langat who was flanked by his supporters celebrated the victory with song and dance and thanked God and the Ainamoi residents for granting him an opportunity to lead and serve them again as their legislator, promising to fulfill all the pledges he made to them.

“I want to assure Ainamoi residents that they have made a wise decision of giving me back this position to deliver competently and bring development to the Constituency. I believe I will bring the transformation that our Constituency deserves. Freedom is coming. Thank you.” added Amb. Langat.

Amb. Langat previously served as the Member of Parliament for Ainamoi Constituency in Kericho County from 2008 to 2017.

He is also the immediate former Kenya’s High Commissioner to Namibia and holds a Master of Business Administration Degree in Accounting and Bachelor of Commerce Degree (Accounting Option) both from the University of Nairobi.

Amb Langat is also a fully qualified Certified Public Accountant, and member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya in good standing.
