The Beneficiaries of Inua Jamii cash transfer programme have called for streamlining of the payment system citing myriad of challenges they encounter at various pay points.
The beneficiaries who included elderly men and women decried long distance travels to far flung pay outlets, saying they risked being robbed.
Speaking in Kisii town, they complained that some names were missing in the system while others received cash in the open, exposing them to potential targets of night attacks by criminals.
One Albert Omari, commended the government for footing the beneficiaries’ expenses on food and healthcare among others, but suggested increment of the amount saying it was insufficient.
Daniel Soteri said the congestion at the pay points should be addressed and a more convenient method adopted.
The beneficiaries started receiving the cash money this week in arrears at various financial institutions, MPESA agents and public offices.
