Be Ambassadors of peace, Christians urged

Pastor Elvis Ololkipai of World Changers Cathedral (WCC) has encouraged Christians to pray and support the orphans, elderly and widows in the society who struggle to get basic needs.

“By sharing with the vulnerable people in our community, we are reflecting on the love Christ portrayed when he went to the Cross. This is the true meaning of commemorating Easter,” he said.

He also challenged Christians to pray for the growth and stability of their country, saying all leaders are chosen by God and it is the responsibility of all Christians to pray for them so that they can deliver quality services.

“We fail when we complain too much other than praying. When we complain and abuse our leaders on social media platforms, we are giving a chance to disunity and hatred, which is not good for the country’s growth,” he said.

Reverend Jane Lolchoki also challenged Christians to put aside hate speech, tribalism and bitterness that bar the progress of the country and instead challenged them to embrace a brotherhood spirit to spur the development of our nation.

“It is our time to put a smile on someone’s face. I ask my fellow brethren to support the needy people in our society as we commemorate the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ,” she reiterated.

Christians all over the world commemorate the Easter holiday annually to remember the Crucifixion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

On Friday, Catholic faithfuls in Narok town marched along the streets to mark ‘the way of the cross’ as they remembered the sufferings that Christ underwent before his death and resurrection.
