The Butsotso cultural festival that is usually celebrated in December will not take place this year.
This is as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic which is ravaging Kakamega County in the second wave of infections.
According to the chairman of the Butsotso cultural events Isaac Otiende, they are urging the residents to continue observing the directives from the Ministry of Health including social distancing and banning public gatherings to help curb the virus spread.
He said the decision was reached by the elders on behalf of the community, calling upon all to adhere to it.
The elders, however, have welcomed the idea of sub-diving Lurambi constituency into two, hoping that this will re-unite the Batsotso sub-tribe members who were divided a few years ago when Navakholo was created.
The hiving-off of Navakholo slashed some part of Batsotso from Lurambi and so they are calling upon the two area MPs Emmanuel Wangwe of Navakholo and his Lurambi counterpart Titus Khamala to lead the talks on the issue.
