Baringo Muslim Forum to raise Sh200 million to build mosques

Baringo Muslim Forum is seeking to raise funds to a tune of Sh200 million to build a total of 18 mosques and help improve infrastructure in their places of worship across the county.

Speaking to KNA on phone over the weekend, the Chairman Baringo Muslim Forum Juma Omar said that the forum has decided to come together to ask for assistance from well-wishers to assist them build mosques and madrasas across the county.

“We ask well-wishers in Kenya and beyond to help us build mosques, madrasas, toilets and boreholes to access water in Kabarnet, Eldama Ravine, Marigat and Tiaty,” Omar said.

Omar noted that some mosques like the one in Marigat that was started last year had many challenges as it is made of iron sheets and imams do not have a place to live.

The chairman stated that in Churo and Tangulbei mosques in Tiaty constituency, madrasa are held in the mosques that are not well constructed and water was a major problem.

“Water is a problem in most mosques in Baringo and particularly in Baringo East, Tiaty West and we need assistance to drill boreholes to assist Muslim faithful,” he said.

Omar said Baringo being an arid and semi-arid area, people have many issues that included poor infrastructure in terms of roads and high poverty levels.

Omar has therefore urged well-wishers to help them get funding to build mosques, madrasas and even toilets.
