Banker killed by client in Nyamira

An  official of the Kenya Women Finance Trust  Bank (KWFT) was hacked to death on Tuesday by a client at a homestead in Bisembe village, North Mugirango Constituency, where he held a meeting with the financial institution’s clients.

Erick Kaloki (32), KWFT’s Business Development Manager, met his sudden death after demands by Anderson Mayaka, 32, that he be refunded an extra payment made of a loan taken by his wife earlier on.

Confirming the incident, the Nyamira North Sub County Police Commander (SCPC), Patrick  Ngeiywa said the visibly angry Mayaka got mad at Erick when he told him to wait until other customers with loans settled them before he could be refunded his extra cash.

“We  were told that Mr. Anderson demanded that he be refunded excess cash he made to the Bank courtesy of his wife but the bank’s official explained to him that he would have to wait a little longer before he could be refunded the cash an explanation which didn’t go well with Mayaka who protested out of the meeting and came back shortly with a machete which he had hidden within the compound where they were having a meeting, he reportedly hacked him several times to death,” said Ngeiywa.

“Though he also ran after his own life, angry customer and neighbouring residents gave him a chase for hours and cornered him at a neighbouring Kerumbe village where they lynched him,” the  SPC  confirmed.

Ngeiywa has however, cautioned residents against taking the law into their own hands and instead to follow approved channels for seeking justice to avoid unnecessary loss of lives.

The two bodies were taken to Nyamira County Referral Hospital Mortuary awaiting autopsy.
