The Permanent Presidential Music Commission (PPMC) has kicked started three-day auditions for the entertainment during Mashujaa Day which will be held in Kirinyaga County.
The event staged at Kirinyaga Central NG-CDF headquarters bring all artists within and without Kirinyaga County. The commission in their schedule has indicated three categories for auditions: Popular Artist, Bands and other creative arts, Choral and cultural performing groups.
The selected groups will entertain the head of state and other dignitaries at Wang’uru stadium.
Job Ayub Spokesperson of Kirinyaga All Artist Forum (KAAF) said they are optimistic to get opportunities in the national event.
“We hope to get this rare chance in our county to take part in a national event like this. We are the host and we look forward to the best,” he said.
Muthoni Maina, Secretary to KAAF, said they are very ready to entertain the head of state and all guests. She also added the increments of skiza dues to 40 per cent is highly welcomed by the artists.
“We are set to welcome our president and everybody in Kirinyaga County as artists,” She said. “As artists, we are happy that the skiza revenues have been increased to 40 per cent this is a big boost to us as artists and we look forward to better revenues,” she added.
She further urges the County government to put up studios and provide enabling environment for the artists.
Chairman of KAAF Mr Paul Kimani said all artist countrywide are free to come to Kirinyaga County for the auditions ahead of Mashujaa Day. He added said that setting up talent academies in all counties will boost the artist industry.
“The artist from every region in this country is welcomed to this auditions, this is a national event. The government also should ensure that all counties have operational talent academies,” he concluded.
