Atwoli Pledges to Establish a Labour Institute at Muliro Varsity

Central Organization for Trade Unions Secretary General has said he would seek other partners in order to establish an institute of labour studies at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology.
Mr.  Francis Atwoli, who was offered an honorary Doctor of Philosophy Degree in humane letters by the institution on Friday said the institute will offer degrees courses in labour studies.
The vocal trade unionist said the institute would be named after him and commended the University for the honour and pledged to support in its endeavors to offer quality education.
The Chancellor, Peter Muthoka urged the institutions of higher learning to focus on technology and innovation, in order to produce manpower that would drive the country into a middle income status in the next decade.
Mr. Muthoka added that universities should maintain their status of being factories where skilled labour is manufactured.
He called on the teaching staff to forge partnerships with their colleagues around the globe, so as to ensure that what they teach was up to date.
