Preparations for this year’s Madaraka Day Celebrations to be hosted in Kisumu County are on top gear.
Among those expected to grace the occasion and give it pomp and color are musicians, with priority given to those from the greater Nyanza region.
With few days remaining to the 1st, June National event to be presided over by President Uhuru Kenyatta, artistes from the Luo region slotted to perform at the fete are upbeat and ready to deliver the finest entertainment to the invited guests.

Kisumu County Executive Committee (CEC) for Tourism, Sports, Arts and Culture Achie Alai on Thursday joined artists and dancers as they rehearsed for the forthcoming celebrations which commemorate the day Kenya attained self-independence.
“Madaraka day will be a platform for the artists to display their talents which plays a role in embracing our rich, vibrant culture and ensures we safeguard our national identity,” said Alai.
The selected artists will have the onus to entertain the 3,000 people who will be allowed into the event at the Jomo Kenyatta Stadium in Mamboleo, Kisumu.
The Permanent Presidential Music Commission (PPMC) has lined up famous and upcoming musicians to perform before the Head of State.
Renowned musician and the queen of Benga Music Suzzana Owiyo expressed joy as she revealed to her ardent fans that she is among the lucky artists to grace the occasion.
Other celebrities invited include Wuod Fibi, Musa Jakadala, Freddy Jakadongo, Koffi Mac Adory, Dola Kabarry, Aluoch Pamba, Osito Kale and Caroline Wanjiru.
