Police in Kakamega have arrested two suspects while four others are being interrogated following a spate of killings in Matungu Sub County.
According to the area County Commissioner (CC), Abdulrizak Jaldesa the four were being grilled for the purpose of
establishing if they were linked to the crimes as the other two await arraignment in court.
Jaldesa and the Kakamega Governor, Wycliffe Oparanya implored the area residents to maintain peace after 10 people were killed by gangsters in Matungu constituency about a month ago.
The duo who were speaking at Huduma Centre in Kakamega stressed that peace was a prerequisite for development in the county.
The CC noted that 1,060,000 people in the area had registered in the ongoing huduma namba registration since it kicked off 34 days ago.
Jaldesa said the registration would be extended to schools to carter for students who were not registered while at home for holidays.
He expressed optimism that the county’s target of 2.1 million people would be realised as the governor called on the residents to register since this would assist the nation in planning for its people.
“Just like I have managed to register today, I would like to advise all Kakamega residents to show up for the
registration as it will enable every single individual to have access to government services and it will allow us to plan on development issues using the statistics,” said the governor.
